For the past twenty years, our law firm has resided in the historic building located at 304 East Jones Street in Raleigh. The building was built circa 1878 and is now formally known as the Lewis-Joyner House, named in part after James Y. Joyner, former superintendent and pioneer of education in North Carolina. Following the civil war, many of the then business and political leaders of North Carolina acquired and resided in homes in this area.

The building is a registered Raleigh Historic Landmark. Its originality sets it apart from other historic structures in the area, and the building is well recognized by many Wake County residents. A particularly distinguishing characteristic is the building’s cupola; a common detail found in the Victorian and Second Empire style homes of its era. Some of our guests enjoy venturing up the very steep set of stairs to take in a stunning view of the Capital City.

The Lewis-Joyner House still retains a blue porch ceiling to resemble the sky and, according to Southern folklore, to scare flies away. It sits directly southeast of the Executive Mansion, home of the Governor since it was built more than a decade after construction of 304 East Jones Street.
